Willows do not grow in straight lines, and this one did not stay in the row. It wandered off to the back of the pasture, past where the timber gives out. Open ground holds the light longer than the timber does, so we put that on the floor, burnt orange and teal under cream. Park at your own door, and by dark you will not have seen another person.
Its Tree
Salix nigra
Willows grow where the water is and nowhere else, so a line of them across a pasture is a map of the creek. The roots are what hold a bank together through a flood. The leaves are long and narrow, the first to go yellow in the fall and the last to drop.
The Same in All Five
19.5 foot bell tent · 289 square feet · 11 foot ceiling · 360° double sidewall you can roll up for mesh views
Canvas cools faster than a house. There's heat and A/C in every tent, but if you're coming in December or January, pack warm layers for the night.
